When the Surface Remembers
When the Surface Remembers: Paper as Gesture, Memory, and Witness
Paper is often perceived as fragile—temporary, easily erased, easily replaced. Yet it is precisely through this vulnerability that paper becomes one of the most enduring witnesses of human thought, labor, memory, and belief. Long before monuments were erected, ideas were first drawn, written, folded, and marked on paper. In this exhibition, Puri Art Gallery brings together artists who treat paper not merely as a surface, but as a living site where gesture, history, ecology, and social consciousness converge.
